Upcoming Contest and FeatureSince the majority of you voted that i should do a contest when i get 750 Watcher ( maybe i will already start it at 700

) i decided to do so !
Since the seconds most votes possibility was to get two of my photoshop actions for free i also decided to give one of my Photoshop Actions ( you can find them here ) to everyone of my watchers that want one

of course only when i reach 700 or 750 watcher ( i will decide later

) !
I will inform you again when the time comes

But now some small things about the contest :
I think i will let you vote on a theme for the contest later but you can seggest a theme that you would like ! Maybe i will add it to the Poll ( it should be a relatively open theme )
Another thing : the prizes
I will give 100 points for the first place; 50 points for the second place and 25 points for the third

Activities/Contest/FeaturesHi guys,
We are hard at work to make this group beter and stronger every day. You guys might not know it, but believe me we have alot of brainstorming going on. So I come to you bearing good news.

Monthly Challenge
So how this is going to work is we are going to post a poll on certain things you can do with manips. Like lighting or blending or coloring, etc. You guys vote and the we then put a blog together of the winner. The blog will include things like links to tutorials, mini interviews with expert artists, etc. We will also provide you with some stock pictures we think fits the challenge. You MUST use atleast one of these stock pictures and make a manipulation based on what you learned from the blog. THe winner will only get features, this is not a contest. It is just a platform you can use to hone your skills as a manipulator.

First off let me say that I understand different views of art. Trust me, I get it. Art is subjective and what one person may see, another may not.
Allow me to continue by saying that this leads to a problem which I'd like to discuss here.
Emotion in art.
See, when we say we expect art to be centered around emotion or depict it, that's basically what we mean. We want the art to deliberately provoke an obvious response. Art can be crafted and tailored to create emotions and there is great skill in that. The problem can, however, be brought down to one word.
'Pretentiousness'
If someone takes a picture of a flower in a field, turns it black and white and gives it a name like 'Solemnity' or 'Ancient Spirits' We don't see emotion, we see some photographer who, to be fair, like a lot of others believes that this kind of stuff is oh so deep and innovative.
